The Fines Trip

There is now a poll on Spond for you to decide how we spend the money. This page provides additional information on each option so you can make an informed decision.

You can vote for both options if you would do both. If you only vote for one option, it will be assumed you don’t want to do the other one if it wins.

All options take place between Friday 24th April and Monday 27th April.

Regardless of which option wins and how mnay fines you have paid, a non-refundable deposit of £50 will be due before we book anything.

OPTION ONE – BUTLINS

80’s Weekend at Skegness

We travel over on the Friday and stay in accommodation of 4 people to a room (one double bed and two singles). On Saturday, we have a full-day session in Ingoldmells, followed by a fancy dress party at night.

You can travel back on Sunday or Monday, depending on the drivers.

The fine’s money covers the cost of the accommodation and the drinking on Saturday afternoon.

You would need to pay for your fancy dress, drinks on Friday & Saturday night, and all your food. There may also be an additional fee to pay for the accommodation if we cannot get a deal, this would be due around March and would be no more than £50 making the maximum total cost £100 plus any fines you have paid.

OPTION TWO – CORK CITY

Friendly Football Match in Ireland

We would fly from Manchester Airport on Friday (15:40) and arrive in Cork City in plenty of time for a night out.

On Saturday, we would travel to Bandon to play a friendly on a high-quality pitch, followed by drinks in Bandon. We then travel back to Cork for the night.

The fines money would play for:
– Airport transfers to Manchester
– Travel from Cork Airport to the City Centre
– Travel from Cork City to Bandon and back
– All drinks in Bandon

You would need to book and pay for:
– Flights (around £60)
– Hotel (around £180)
– Return transfers

As a guide, these are the return flight times and total flight cost:
SUN 08:55 £62
SUN 18:00 £129
MON 12:00 £60
MON 21:05 £56

Currently, a twin room at Cork City Premier Inn is £145 for Fri & Sat or £180 for Fri to Mon (per person).

So if you flew home at midday on Monday, it would cost you £50 (deposit) + £60 (flights) + £180 (hotel) = £290, plus your fines, spending money and getting home from the airport.

OTHER OPTIONS

We want as many people as possible to benefit from the fines pot, so we have a quota of 25 for the winning option. In other words, if neither of these options gets 25 votes, then we do neither of them.

Instead, the full money will be used for an activity (e.g. paintballing, go-karting, etc.) and a night out somewhere fairly local (e.g. Brighouse, Wakefield etc.).

This would still be on the same dates, but no deposit would be required (although a minimum fines contribution would be required, i.e. nobody gets it for free).
